Title Sequence Ideas

This year, I wanted to experiment more with my title sequence. In my foundation year I created a title sequence which played on screen with the film itself. So this year I aim to make a more creative and interesting title sequence to serve as a unique feature to our project. I wanted to experiment on Final Cut Express, in particular after research into music videos, making footage play backwards, appearing to rewind. My initial idea was to create a collect of clip, almost like home videos, featuring events we encounter each day, such as traffic, a running tap/water, or even clouds moving in the sky, which I would then edit to play in reverse. The images would then appear on a black background, in a tile format. I imaged them appearing in sequence, as if fading onto screen and fade away to black, possibly to reveal the films title behind them. We would need around 9 clips in various lengths, each with a different and interesting scene that we can play backwards. The title would be dynamic and effective as it shows time rewinding which is the main theme of our film, and also presents the cast's name and the title of the film in an interesting format, rather than simple text on a blank background. Here, I have create a prototype on Final Cut Pro using my own video to give a rough idea of how the final product may look when complete.

Here's a little detail on the steps to make it.
Step One

Final Cut Pro is slightly different from Express. I select a few home videos and cut them down, adding each to an individual layer. I used the wireframe to make each smaller and in a tile format. Each come up at different times and last various lengths.

Then I select each clip, and made them play in reverse. In the actually title sequence I think we should slow the footage.

I had to make each clip an individual Timeline to add a transition.

Then finally I added a Gursian blur to the begining and end of each clip. At the end of the clips, I added two items of text which fade onto screen. Overall, I'm happy with the outcome, it could look very effective with better clips which you can tell are rewinding. It would also need music and to be longer with the cast names added.
